Thought this might help other first timers, as I have no clue which diapers are the 'best' :)

it is trial and error. I had parents tell me this or that but it kind of depends on what your child is shaped like etc. I don't like luvs the are to big in the bottom and just don't like them. I like papers for during the day and when my daughter reacher size three she was peeing through the pampers at night and wetting the bed. so I got huggies over nights and they worked but they are hard to find i have to go all around town for some strange reason. So i only use that in the evening to save them and pamper baby dry during the day

We needed preemie diapers for a while. They can be hard to come by, but the best were Pamper's swaddlers. Now, as the girls got older and we were buying more boxes of diapers, I tried out some cheaper versions. Walmart's Whitecloud are wonderful. I've yet to have a leak. Also, Sam's club's brand are super as well. Consumer reports did a report not too long ago and said that the off brand diapers and getting to be just as good as the expensive ones.

One diaper I hated were Huggies. The time we tried those were the only times we had leaks. Best of luck.

I have always used Pampers cruisers with my daughter. I recently tried changing her to Huggies just to try it out, and what a HUGE mistake. Her urine wouldn't even go into the diaper. It would come straight out. I had never had any problems with Pampers. At night time I do use Huggies overnights which work really well since my daughter sleeps 12+ hours a night. But I will never use regular Huggies.

We use luvs - my son, like others, is allergic to pampers. The strange thing is luvs and pampers are both made by the same company. I guess you pay more for pampers because there are more chemicals fragrancing them and wicking away the moisture or something like that. I've heard that the toysrus/babiesrus brand is pretty good too. We tried Huggies as well, but it seemed like they leaked a lot. Never had that problem with luvs... also had the same leaking problem with pampers the 1 day my son was in them before we discovered he was allergic. It's all trial and error.

I used Luvs with my daughter 11 years ago....When my son was born I used mostly huggies and Pampers Swaddlers(which I really liked) at first....But not the Huggies supreme`s as he would pee out of then every single time!!! Now he is 8 months old I have used Parents Choice (from Wal-mart) and White Cloud (which I also used when he was a baby)....They work just as well as the expensive brands to me....

Huggies Baby-Shaped Fit diapers (not Supreme) or Pampers! Don't get the cheap generic ones. Personally, I love Huggies, I think Pampers have a weird smell. And my kid gets a diaper rash every time I put her in Pampers.

But it depends on your kid and the fit of the diaper to the kid. Buy one of each and see which you like better. Same goes for baby wipes - Huggie or Pampers are the best.

I have 3 children. After my first one was born I tried all the name brands and found that I liked Huggies the best. I love the smell of Luvs but, they leaked like crazy with my girls. :) Then I discovered the generic brands after I had my second daughter. The one that I find most comparable to Huggies is the WalMart brand... White Cloud. I used nothing else with my 3rd daughter. I hope this helped. Good luck and God bless!

I really loved pampers swaddlers for the first few months (I think they only make them to a size 2)

Then, I switched to cloth diapers for awhile, and I LOVE those for when we are around the house. My little girl has never had a diaper rash until recently (antibiotics :()

I also buy Seventh Generation diapers now, as they have no chlorine in them. They are definitly worth the little extra you pay. And no icky chemicals is really nice!
My daughter did fine with the pampers as long as they were swaddlers, the Cruisers and Baby dry STINK so bad like chemicals, and they irritated her skin somethin' aweful.

With my first, I used Pampers and loved them. I used the premie size up to size four, I think. I tried Huggies once, but once the package was used up, I never wanted to buy them again. My son would leak right through them. I'd recommend Pampers.

I started with Huggies and they worked ok. She was allergic to pampers. I tried White Cloud from Wal-Mart and they worked well but are sized smaller than Huggies. Then I tried the Members Mark brand from Sam's Club and they work good also.
