Question about Footballers' Wive$...?

I know very little about British football culture, only having spent one summer in Ireland, but the first time I saw FW it I assumed there were a few obvious parallells? Anyone agree?

Conrad & Amber = Posh 'n Becks (he can't NOT be a parody of Becks, come ON)
Frank & Tanya = George Best and whatshername?
The married 17 year olds = Wayne & Colleen? (this could be off, datewise)

I dunno it just seems a bit obvious to me!
