I would think that, being a sponge, he would just absorb all the water.
He can't swim because no one ever taught him, and he can build a fire because -- uh, because.... BECAUSE I SAID SO, that's why!

besides in the show Spongebob Squarepants, when was the last time you heard a sponge talk? Or a squid working at a fast food restaurant?
The show is a cartoon, they can do whatever...

That is a good question. But it is just made up he is a question too about spongebob. How come he can walk normal underwater and not float? All animation my good friend.

Interesting question, I for one think maybe the fact that it is a cartoon will have something to do with it..
They are trying to entertain children (maybe adults too) and aren't to worried about if it follows logical reasoning.

I refer spongebob as a STD. He works at Crusty Crabs lives in Bikini bottom. How much more do you need? He can do what ever he pleases!

spongebob squarepants is one of those cartoons where the directors of the program use there imaginations so they can entertain the kids. its like in the powerpuff girl (which i h8) the girls can use these powers to kill monsters.

who knows? spongebob is a cartoon for lil kids. its very impractical (i know!) and kids should'nt be watching it- they're getting the wrong idea, and losing much common sense! I agree w/ ya girl!
