were you much more talkative than usual? Did people have trouble stopping you or understanding you? Did people have trouble getting a word in edgewise?

If we think of a convesation as a wall, you are trying to find a way to stick in your comments on the edge, as if you were trying to squeeze between two bricks

"Bar none" that is one of the toughest questions ! No seriously, "hands down" it really is. Lol..."By the way" I think edgewise there means you couldn't get even the slightest bit of a word in that conversation even if you tried. It has nothing to do with actual edges...cheers to the English language, eh ?

That someone is talking so much they can't manage to even "squeeze" a word into the conversation, not only straight, but turned sideways. As to mean that the person talking didn't even pause for a breath to allow the other person to reply.

Normally something is thinner along its edge. This is an idiomatic expression which is saying even if a word were placed edge first, it would still be impossible to interject it into the conversation because the person doing the talking was talking so much.
Basically it just means one person is talking so much, that other people don't even have an opportunity to speak.

it means the person speaking was probably manic (medical term for hyper people) and gabbling without stopping. No one was able to interrupt your speech.

To getting in edgewise means to go in sideways.

so if someone is gabbling away then no one could interrupt that person to say one word.

It means, the person talked so much that no one else could get a word in the conversation.

My thought is the person was unable to in gage in to the conversation even if it meant trying to engage somewhere midstream or parallel the conversation.

It means very thin - the edge of a piece of paper, for example. You don't have a chance to talk.
