http://www.Direcpc.com is from DirecTV This is expensive but works better than dial-up. I understqand that you do need to still have a telephone for data transmissions though. Hope this helps

Wildblue and Hughesnet are the two main satellite providers. They are pretty much the same in price, but wildblue has a better usage policy. In reality they are both hard to deal with, due to usage limits. Satellite internet is horrible for phones. The latency is far to high for voice communications. Cellular and land-line is the only way to get good voice communications. Watching video over Satellite internet is also extremely not recommended. It will put you over your usage limit very quickly. I would suggest a normal satellite TV service, or just over the air TV.

Your cable provider may provide unbundled internet access, but they usually charge extra if you only use a single service. I have Dish Network for TV and I use Charter cable internet. The best way to know for certain is to check with whatever cable company or companies serve your area.

Depending on where you live you should be able to get just high speed internet service w/out having to subscribe to cable service. It is just a metter of which provider , your area, and your matter fo price.

You normally can get Internet without cable TV. But they charge extra and it is so close to the price with cable TV that it is pointless not to add it. Check instead into seeing whether DSL is available in your area. Assuming you are going to have a telephone, added DSL is cheaper then cable Internet without TV.
