Last summer I went to Dubrovnik, Croatia. The town was beautiful and everyone was very friendly. This is definately a less traveled tourist spot but there is still a lot to do. Lucerne was also one of my favorite spots! Croatia is more rural and less commercialized similar to Lucerne.

Dubruvnik as some else mentioned is gorgous.
I enjoyed Bruno, Czech Republic.
Lisbon, and further south Lagos are amazing, right on the Atlantic Ocean, they call it the end of the world....b/c of how its just vast amounts of OCean out there. Granada is another beautiful place over in Spain that is worth a trip.
Brugge, Belgium and also Gent are really nice.
Odense, Denmark was really cool, I enjoyed it as well, near the water, a few miles out.
Head to the Austrian Tyrol is breathtaking, and it borders Switzerland/Germany area and that area is just astonishing. So beautiful it really took my breath away.
Salerno, Italy and Naples actually are places to go visit and same with Certaldo, Italy and Siena in the Tuscany region.
Lake Como too was relatively quiet when I was out there. But it could be the time of year when I went out there.
Baden-Baden in the southwest part of Germany near the border of France is nice if you want to go for a retreat and get yourself pampered. Great place to relax and unwind from a trip. :)

What about Gotland , Sweden? its a popular destination for us during summer. And also the west coast of sweden, Smögen, Strömstad, Grebbestad.Famous for fresh seafood, good nightlife, camping etc.It isnt well known to most tourists but rather popular among swedish people.Or a rent a cabin in Roskilde,Denmark and enjoy the serenity of nature.Faeroe Islands is another place that you should drop by.We spent a few weeks there was a good place to escape from the city.U can google it up.Good luck & have fun!

Think about the area south of Dresden, Germany. You have three countries that converge and all of them are interesting for their own reasons. Also, think about the Adriatic side of Italy. And then there's the Orkney Islands for the Viking within.
