It is forbidden in the United Kingdom, those who assist an ill person to commit suicide will be guilty of murdering him or her. The European Court of Human Rights ruled that there was no right to die guaranteed under the right to life, so euthanasia is illegal and no one has the right to help a person to die.
However, euthanasia is allowed in Netherlands and some Europe countries, I am not sure about the United States.
I think it is controversial. It is wrong to help an ill person to take his or her precious life given by god. But if we consider the other way round, that it will help to ease an ill person’s suffering and pain, it might be the right thing to do.
It depends on how a person views it and from what background, society a person comes from. There is no exact answer to it.

Glad you asked that question as I have a statement. Why is it legal to kill a fetus and actually have the government pay for the procedure but illegal for a person to voluntarilly kill themselves. The fetus never had a chance to live and become a good citizen but the person that is so ill he or she justs wants to end it all is not permitted to do it with dignity.
I predict that in the near future euthanasia will become legal simply because of the baby boomers and the expense to the gov't to keep them living.

This society has more compassion for animals than humans when it comes to quality of life.
If a person is in incurable pain, or has made it clear that they don't want to live as a vegetable, it should be their right to choose to end their life.
Some years ago, a poll was done among senior citizens, asking who their hero was. The overwhelming majority said Dr. Kevorkian.

I'm much more against than for. I suppose if a person is suffering so intolerably--has few days left (for certain) anyway--it might not be so bad. People who may have up to a year or more of life ahead of them, however, should stick it out for as long as they can.
Just my opinion.

personally i think they should look very hard into legalising it in the UK and other places...many people want to die with dignity so why shouldnt they be given the option too...if an animal is found to have anything that will result in death they are put to sleep straight away...so why cant we humans have the same choice....i know it goes alot deeper then that, but surely something can be looked into seriously about it...what are yours?

My brother , rest his soul, died of bronchial cancer. He was literally going to choke to death. He was coherent enough toward the end to keep banging on the bed rail and asking for morphine every 5 mins. I called the doctor, he said and i quote "your brother knows how he is going to die, he knows what he is doing, give him as much morphine as he wants" My brother was shutting himself down before having to face the last 5 mins of his life choking to death. I for one am all for it.

In the book of Revelations it is written that in the end times men will seek death and it will be denied them.....but it does not say that God will deny them death so who else does that leave that will deny another man's request of death?

Depends on the circumstances - I am for it in regard to me - but on others I would need to base the decision on life expectancy!@~

There are things in this life worse than death. Dr. Kavorkian deserves a metal !!
We treat our animals better than we treat our own loved ones.
