Mr. Buonarroti knew what he wanted to do by the time he was 13. Before he was 21 he was well behind in his commissions. He and da Vinci loathed one another. He took over the construction of St. Peter's at the Vatican.

In subject matter, Michelangelo was able to weave classical Greek into the Catholic traditions. His sculpture has one optimum viewing angle that we all see in the art books, but if you walk around to take in the whole, the statues have unusual flaws. David has a head overly large.

In his time, Michelangelo acquired the last of the pure white Cararra marble.
