Of course the boss should not have told her before he discussed it with your husband. But there is nothing your husband can do about it other than confront the boss...and to what purpose? Unfortunately this is how it is in many cutthroat industries and just because someone is the boss doesn't necessarily mean they have brains, ethics, or class. Perhaps your husband should start looking elsewhere...either transfer to a different department or another company/industry.
