My friend agreed to visit me at the beach over the summer, so I rented a room for a week and it cost me about $700. Last minute (and I mean LAST minute) she called me to say she wasn't coming but that she would pay me her half of the bill anyways since it was too late for me to get any money back on the room. We got back to school and she never brought it up and I was too afraid of making her mad to bring it up. It's almost 8 months later and I'm broke and transfering. I need that money back before we lose touch, but what should I say and how can I bring it up? I can't very easily say: "Hey, you owe me $350." PLEASE HELP!

First of all it would have been alot easier for you to say something alot earlier but since you didn't you are just going to have to face the music. Just go up to her and ask if she remembers that situation and tell her what you said on here. Tell her that you didn't know how to bring it up but you need the money so if she could give it to you it would be great. And hey, if she does get mad that is her problem as long as you are not nasty. She did say she would give it to you. Hope this helps!

Just tell her, listen i'm kinda broke here....are u still gonna pay me the $350 bucks you said you would? and if she starts gettign all mad tell her that she shouldn't have said that if she wasn't intending on paying you back....either way you're gonna transfer and loose contact with her so why do u worry if she'll get mad or not?

Just bring up about getting the room and then simply say.. I know it's been a long time.. but I really need that money..

say that she owes you money but when you say it don't accuse her say it in the nicest way possible!
It should go along these lines:
" remember ages ago you said you would pay me half of the money for renting the room, i don't mind and it's not urgent but i would like it someday because I'm broke!"
laugh at the end of saying it so that she will think you're not that bothered!
