I think that i have answered this before, but since there are no other answers here, I will submit one.

When I was in training for cheerleading, I would put
1/2 pound ankle weights on my legs when I was jumping. After a couple of weeks or so, I would increase the weights.

When it came time to tryout, I would take the weights off, and would feel so light that my jump would be drastically higher!

Just be careful though...take it slowly and work your way up! You don't want to be sore for your tryouts!
