Plame was not a covert agent.
In her testimony when asked if she was ever informed that her status was covert, she admitted that neither before nor after the incident that this has all been about was she ever
once told she was a covert agent.

The law covering covert agents requires that her status be officially stated as covert in order to actually be a covert agent. Again, as she admitted herself she was never told she was covert.

Plame's previous boss also stated that at the time she became engaged to Wilson that the high profile status of their engagement compromised her chances of being given a covert status.

Plame was working at deskjob in middle management at Langely. Contrary to what someone else said about the CIA being spies, only a very small amount of CIA employees are covert, spies etc.... most of them work in an office doing nothing covert at all.

There is 0 nada, none, nein ... case for outting a CIA agent, as she coudlnt have been outted.
Are you all clear about this??

Correct. It is a waste of money and an attempt to discredit members of the Bush administration who did nothing wrong. No wonder the new congress has such low ratings. They are low people. The person who leaked her name is not even being pursued. Plame's husband is a lying political hack who fabricated a story in an attempt to discredit Bush and Cheney. Even the British know about the yellow cake uranium deal b/w Niger and Sadaam; perhaps someone will come forward unless their silence is being bought. Wilson is a big fat liar.

Because a CIA agent has never been exposed by a government official for political reasons EVER in the history of our nation.
If this is proven true you will have a proven case of treason. I think it is very important to send a message to all politicians that promoting a political agenda does not justifiy commiting a treasonous act.

I believe that it will send a message to future CIA operatives that we in the US take this very seriously, and do everything we can to protect those who are in sensitive situations...just to make sure that this doesn't discourage future generations from wroking for the CIA. To me, it has nothing to do with poltics...outside of the fact that it was politics that caused the leak. it is not up to individuals to decide whether or not a person is covert. She should have been protected.

Because the CIA is in the business of spying. the people that work for them are spies. These people do this job with the expectation that the government they work for is not going to point them out as a spy. She was betrayed. Now, lets up the ante, it was done during wartime, that makes whom ever did this subject to capital punishment.
Don't you think it odd that GWB claims he secretly (and conveniently) declassified a portion of a significant security document to allow the leak but can't declassify 4 year old data so we can openly charge the men in Gitmo? Also, the only portion declassified was just enough to release her name and her husband's.

When laws are violated it is appropriate to do that. Her life and the security of our country could have been put in danger because of that leak. Republicans spent millions of dollars and countless hours obcessing over a triste Bill Clinton had with a bimbo instead of letting him work it out with his wife yet they get upset because the Democrats spend less money and time investigating corruption and the leaking of the identity of a CIA agent whose life could have been lost or put this nation in peril because of a desire to punnish a detractor.

Becuase even though die hard republicans know the truth
George W Bush will not yet admit that he got us into this war with proof that he KNEW was LIES
that's what this is all about, don't kid yourself
Her husband said so and the retaliation for that was Her being "outted"
If she was a Repub and the Pres was dem. and all this happened you'd defend it

Open question
If George W Bush knowingly lied about facts leading to this war(like the majority of the people in the United States believe,)
Would you then think he should be impeached?
or does the crime of stains on a dress matter more?

I can honestly say I asked myself the same question during the Clinton impeachment... and it's why I'm glad they aren't trying to impeach Bush right now... it's a waste of money/time and it only hurts the nation.. when we have more pressing matters to attend to... granted I think no one deserves to be overlooked... but we have to have priorities.

because she was a covert agent whose idenity was blown- during war time no less. this is disgusting and a serious matter. especially since her career was ruined based on political affiliation and disagreements
