I'm going to study psychology so i don't know if you'll understand anything in my answer but i'll try to make it easy. What you are talking about is a problem that everyone goes through at some point in their lives. So my advice to you is to keep a positive attitude around and towards that person.. Trust me i know from experience...It's NOT easy..... But aslo the way people act usually has something to do with the way they've been raised. So the next time you see them think about them. Really think.... think about maybe how they were treated as a kid... try to put your-self in their shoes..... When people are hurt they usually try to cover that hurt so no one can see it. So most people hurt others because they've been hurt and it makes them feel better..Still there is no excuse to act better then others but this is how some people are. Remember everyone is different and goes through the same and different things. They all deal with their problems differently.
Well hope this help you understant it alittle.
Good Luck!

It's not clear to me if you mean on this website, through people's answers and such, or in person. If in person, it matters not whether that person is "better" than me, whether it be financially, intellectually, morally, socially, or physically. If that person makes a point of rubbing this in my face, that person is rude and I would in all likelihood respond negatively.
If it is anonymously, like through the Internet or a stranger on the telephone, something like that, I would politely wish them a nice day and terminate the conversation.
As for "teaching" through professed superiority, that only works if you seek out that source, not if it is foisted upon you.
I think by your question you are alluding to the old saying "Those that don't know, and don't know they don't know, they are fools, ignore them. Those that don't know and know they don't know, they are merely ignorant, teach them. Those that know, and know they know, they are wise, follow them." While there is some truth in this saying, I take it with a grain of salt.
Bottom line, "better" is a value judgment best left to someone else.

well, logically speaking, if everyone thought they were "better" than someone else, there would be no rhyme or reason to treat anyone w/ respect. cuz if YOU think ur better than someone else, automatically ThAT person has the right to think they are better than you. so there is no ability to gain headway in that debate.
how can you prove that u are better anyways? u can think all u want, doens't mean u are Right. =T. that's a pretty crummy defense.. "i think i'm better cuz i am!". anyone can poke holes in that. or claim the same. it becomes a rhetorical statement that has NO weight.
plus people have different views on what is Better than others. for example, Humility and being Humble might be a value that some people find to be Great. therefore someone who says "i am not better than anyone, i just try to be the best I can be in this life" may be considered very wise and Great and Better than you, who says simply "i am better cuz nazi supremicists have told me". =T. again, no headway there.
in the end, u believe what u believe. but personally, i think that constantly seeking what Humanity is, and why we are all here on this earth, and using ur brains as well as your heart, will lead u to truth.. .not what "someone" tells u.

When someone has to make themselves look better than the rest, they usually are the ones that have a low self esteem and need to cover that up by acting out the things they do...as far as I'm concerned, I just ignore them, for they are usually just creating a hypocritical act upon themselves because they know nothing about being humble...and they usually start some bad Karma for themselves which always comes back around to them....so ignore their actions and sayings, things will turn out to prove to them you're actually better than that. Truth always comes out...no matter what.

I never notice.
In some cases, however, maybe some people ARE better than me.
After all, I am not perfect nor do I presume to have all of the right answers in all circumstances.

I smile and/or laugh. That belief alone tells me that they live a sad, negative life that I would never want.
I guess you could say it proves to me that I am better than them. Of course, I don't really think I'm better than anyone, but I'd certainly take my life over theirs. Whatever someone says, even about others, reflects upon themselves.
