I have heard that my 256mb ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card has only 128mb dedicated graphics memory, and that it gets the other 128mb from the system RAM. I have 2gb RAM, but most of the time only half of that is being used. Is there anyway that I can set the graphics card to use up some of that gig of RAM remaining when playing games? I have an Inspiron 6400 Notebook with 1.83ghz dual processor.

No you can't. The hyper memory feature is enabled by default. Hyper memory is the term ATI has given to it's graphics cards / GPU's that use a portion of your system ram. In other words the hyper memory function is using 128 MB of your 2 GB ram, making it a 256 MB GPU.

using hyper memory can bottleneck your system ram. Overall the X1400 isn't bad but it's an entry level solution. Entry level meaning its only capable of high performance at lower resolutions and detail settings.

I would definitely pick the most memory for intensive gaming ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with up to 512MB.
