I am using this to hang on the inside of a tent for a wedding so I don't want it to be too heavy. I would like it to be opaque, not see through like organza or tulle. I also don't want it to be super shiny. I don't know anything about fabric. Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction of what type of fabric would be best to use?

A lot of tent rentals also have liners for rent. A lightweight fabric used for linings of suits would work-it's usually a polyester acetate or try going to an upholstery shop and buying sofa backing-or bottoming material-it's inexpensive and is available in wide bolts.

Go to your local fabric store and ask for inexpensive solid black fabric such as a lining fabric.

I can say lightweight cotton lining fabric, cotton/poly or jersey, but if they don't have that at your local store it won't help.

Possibly a thin cotton would be the best bet to be honest? Its relatively inexpensive and available in a multitude of colours.

Something like gauze? I don't know if it comes colored, though. Good luck!
