Racism is racism no matter which way it goes; bottom line. You can be any color under the rainbow and be racist. I say this all the time; do not let your past determine you’re future... if that’s the case we will be destined to repeat history. If you're black don't grow up with the mentality that someone owes you something... hell if you're any race don't grow up with that mentality. Life is real, and you will be in for a rude awakening with that type of mindset.

Anyone can be racist. Racism is any kind of derogatory action or remark directed at someone regarding their race. Black people are just as racist towards white people as white people are towards them. Hispanics, Asians, Those from the Middle East, as well as Europeans, everyone thinks their heritage is better than others in some way. The same is true for any race, we are all racist to some extent. People are ignorant if they don't believe in universal racism.

Black people can be racist. Absolutely, I've worked with a few.

I think society tends to ignore blacks being racist towards whites. Either because they think it's okay...becasue it's kind of a payback of some sort. Also, Whites tend not to report racism when it happens to them.

My kids went to a school where there was a black teacher who would give the black kids better grades and call on them more.

I worked with a woman who would wear a white hate t-shirt to work...and no one ever said a word.

I was sexually assaulted in middle-school (back in the 1970s) by a black girl. When my mother talked to the principal about it, she was told that since I came from a good home and this girl didn't...frankly they weren't going to do anything about it. So...just because I was white...and she was black, no one cared.

I think blacks don't see it as much because, as I said, whites tend not to say anything. My son was at the mall not to long ago and a group of young black men harrassed him, purposely bumped into him, and he was doing nothing. He's a quiet young man and was just there to go to the movies. He just ignored them and as he was walking away they said stuff like "...hey you want the white boy to be your b*tch?" and they'd all laugh and stuff...made fun of his clothes.

The point is, if things were reversed, there would have been a lawsuit filed, the mall management would have been involved, Jesse Jackson would have showed up and picketed the place. So people see when whites are prejudice but they don't see when blacks are.

Sorry that was so long...I got on a roll!

Racism does not only exist between black and white. Some of the most racist people I have ever met are black and not only towards white people. I have experienced a lot of racism from not only black people and I am white. If you step out side your box and experience different cultures you will see it is everywhere.

Any person of any race can be racist. "Self-defense" in your opinion or not, when you act or treat someone rudely solely because of their race you are being racist; it doesn't matter if it's a black person being racist towards a white person, vice versa, a latino being racist towards a black person, etc. It's a negative behavior, and there is no race that is immune to doing it.

Trust me - there are black people who hate on white people without provocation. I went into an employment assistance establishment, and there was a black employee who told me that "white people don't have a color." Imagine this situation reversed at a place of business! I was offended. Another time, I used to have lots of black guys asking me out and flirting with me, but the boss didn't care at all. (And NO - it would NOT have been ok if the guys were white because I'm a lesbian).

Okay, so if a black person is constantly talking about how they hate all white people; what would you call that? There are a lot of blacks out there that punish the whites for what was done to our ancestors, hundreds of years ago. I've heard these people calling whites very offensive names; which I won't repeat here.
So, anyone can be a racist.

Anybody can be racist: black, white, Indian, Asian. We generally associate racism with whites hating other minorities. But when an individual dislikes someone b/c of race, nationality, skin color it is racism.
