I'm not in New Orleans (about an hour away, maybe), but call the closest YMCA or the Red Cross in your area. They are not free, but not expensive at all.

If you are low income there might be programs at Big Brother/Big Sister or maybe the YMCA. Nothing is free.... but if you are low income it might be close to it.
