i question why this is in the marriage and divorce section, but i'll answer anyway. I would say no because i think it is sort of a primal fear. imagine you are some sort of wild animal out in the wilderness. you would be afraid of the dark because you dont know what is in it and wether or not it's presence threatens your life. if you believe in evolutionism then you believe that we have not always been humans and that we were wild animals at one point. therefore the fear of darkness could easily be a primal fear, or just an aquired fear from some traumatic experience, or simply from too many scary movies.

Of the dark or the things that may be in the dark that you can't see? If you're walking along a high cliff in the dark, it would be extremely natural to feel afraid.

not al all , why would anyone call it " crazy " .. i mean it's true that we're supposed to act like very mature people in issues like that but after all , we're all humans and we do have the right to be afraid of any thing even if it was the darkness ... however , we shouldn't let this fear ruin our life ... and if anybody makes fun of us because of this fear then be sure that there must be something they are afraid of .. i mean COME ON ... it isn't like something we should be ashamed of .. good luck

No, alot of people are afraid of the dark. But I believe that, just like me, you are not exactly afraid of the dark, you are afraid of the things that lurk in the dark.

Everyone is afraid of something so I don't think it's crazy. You should try and figure out why you are afraid of it though and see if you can overcome it. Sometimes you need professional help to work through this sort of thing but lots of time you can do it on your own. Good luck.

No. I'm 44 and I'm still afraid of the dark. I handle it better, though. I used to sweat and have shortness of breath. Now I just close my eyes and try to go to sleep in a hurry!

No it's not. Often times our subconscious will protray certain images our eyes see only no one else see's these images. The dark is the down time of many aspects...example, the old legend/myth when the lights go out the gools and goblins come out to play? Remember that every legend/myth has a truth to it. No shame in sleeping with a night light. If anything, you feel better and your assured that nothing will come out to play. ;-)

No not really whether your a child or adult what you cannot see will leave your mind to the imagination and that can fool you.But remember, what is in the dark must come too the light.
