If it's really true love, you don't have to give up anything. If it's right, then everything should just fall into place without you having to give up things. Now if you mean bad habits, then all of them will be gone because you'll feel compelled to let them go to keep the love in your life. Changes are good, but only if done because you want to, not for anyone or any thing's sake. Keep that in mind before you feel the need to give up things for love. Like I said, when it's right, everything will fall into place and the things you give up will be so minuscule you won't even realize they are gone.

If it's true love you really aren't giving up anything, you're getting things. You might have to make some compromises, but that is true of all the relationships you have in life, work, family and friends, nothing is ever perfect all of the time.

You give up loneliness, the empty feeling in your heart, the empty seat on the couch next to you, the vacant space in your bed, the pillow you hold at night instead of a warm body, and the eery absence of a human voice saying I Love You. If you call that everything, then yes I guess you can say you give it all up. Isn't true love grand??????

I was in an, if not happy, at least very comfortable marriage. I stayed in it for 11 years in fact, despite the fact that my hubby cheated and verbally abused me. I was still comfortable.
I have problems with anxiety and problems with being alone....
BUT when my one and only true love from my past came back around......I gave up my safe comfortable life to go back to him. Doesn't sound like much to some people but I was on the verge of becoming agoraphobic when it happened.....and the new/old man lived an hour and a half away.......

You shouldn't have to give up anything. True love is about people as they are. It may mean that some people are off limits to you...but that's all right, because if you gave something up to make yourself more suitable to someone else, you'd always resent them for it. True, sometimes we have baggage that will forever stand in the way of true love....and we may have to choose to keep the baggage and be happy, or trade it for true love and become miserable. Choices, choices. Sometimes we give up what truly makes us happy for something we think ought to make us happy but doesn't.

That question brings that one song to mind... "When A Man Loves A Woman". He sings about a man even turning his back on his best friends if they said anything bad about his woman. I just heard it again yesterday. It's a song about making sacrifices for love. Yeah, I think people really do sometimes have to give up alot for true love.

I'm married to a great guy that doesn't have the capacity to make more than $10/hour. I guess I'm giving up being able to be a stay at home wife/eventual mother.

NO! You NEVER EVER give up who you really are. For example, if you are the type of girl who likes dying your hair and changing yourself, and you boyfriend is against it, then he is not for you. If you like hanging out with your friends and going out with them, and your boyfriend doesnt want you to go, then he is not for you. You NEVER give up who you truly are for anyone. Once you give up who you are, you will be unhappy regardless of how much you love this other person. Good luck
