My husband is in the final stages of a lon drawn out terminal illness (6 years) and I am wondering how I can make new friends?

Join a group in your area. church... Have a dog? get one!! go to the park with your pet, people love to talk about animals, they are also very therapeutic, my dog feels when I am in pain and just loves to shower on the attention. His just sitting at my feet makes me feel better. My dad has end stage colon cancer, I'll pray for you and your husband.

Depending on where you live you should try a few of the following things. Metro areas are going to provide greater access to more things that might suite you but eitherway try the following.
1. Expand some of your current hobbies and interests. If you are into something like hiking, reading or sewing search the news papers or craigslist.com for others that are into some of the same things you are into. It makes it easy to talk to others if you have a common hobby.
2. Volunteer with a group that might provide a chance to meet others in your same peer group. I also try to do events that are with groups oppose to a gig that you are alone.
3. Attend social events like happy hours. Even if you don't drink you can always go to eat some food.
4. When you are out alone make yourself more approachable. Keep a smile on your face as if someone told you a joke just a few moments earlier. Take time to say hello to random people, you never know when you might meet your new best friend.
