Am I being over analytical? Me and my friend went to grab a bite to eat a little while ago, and I said why don't we just eat here. He said why don't we take it home? I told him I didn't want to eat in front of the other roommates and another guy that was visiting. He said "Man that's half the fun!" He has said things like this in the past. I think he's a selfish, greedy egotistical punk. Am I wrong?

Actually that is very rude and mean. If you dont want to be with someone who acts that way, my best advice is to blow him off. Hang out with someone who isn't out to make himself (and more importantly, you) look like a jerk. They say that what goes around comes around. And it will.

To get a kick out of doing something like that shows a disturbed mind, to deliberately do something to upset others shows a complete lack of sensibility

well, it seems like you fast to call him bad things. There is a reason for that. If for one moment you feel that way and the next you might be feel ok with it it could be you feeling guilty and making excuses for him not to be that way. That or it's the common syndrome of seeing the same face, hearing the same voice and always dealing with the same crap. Roommates at one point or the other get annoyed.

i'm not sure why you don't want to eat in front of your other roommates. You need to eat - why hide the fact? Is it because they can't afford to buy food, so they would get hungry watching you eat? If so, that's their lookout isn't it? You can't be expected to buy food for everyone.

Then go eat alone. Or if it bothers you so much to eat in front of them ask them if they want something to eat, if not then you should not feel funny eating in front of them.
