I received an email today with the link to a book that has been published regarding the predictions of Nostradamus. This link will take you to a sample page given on the web site.
http://www.nostradamusonline.com/sample_chapter.php
As for me, I will purchase the entire book, which can be downloaded in PDF format.
I see many things going on now that are in line with what he had to say, and are especially interesting because of how long ago these predictions were made.
I have decided to put this under Government and Politics because of the issues that are stated on the sample page, and since his predictions deal with the future in that regard, this is an area that has the traffic with the most profound insights. (BTW, that's a compliment to everyone) This has nothing to do with what side of the political fence we are on, but as 'a whole' of society.

I have seen the documentary on the History channel to dismiss him outright, and maybe we are at that time he predicted.
He certainly picked the area that is of such concern at the present day, even if he is out by a few years.

Friend,
Anyone, and do mean ANYONE, can take a statement out of context and use it to show a meaning that just isn't there. This happens all the time.......and in virtually every situation imaginable.
Nostradamus, while being a VERY gifted "seer", was not infallible. Yes, he has made some extraordinary predictions......IF you want to see them that way. However, most of his predictions were rather vague, and intentionally so.
He NEVER meant for people this far in the future to interpret his sayings the way they do.....they just do it. All of his writings were like that.
Get the book, read it through, and you will realize that I'm right.....it's ONLY in the eye of the reader that opinions are formed. Nothing more.

I read Nostradamus a long time ago. I was 12 years old. When I read the prophecy and the interpretation, it all made so much sense!
But if nobody had written that book to interpret what those prophecies meant, I would have thought he was on crack. His words can mean anything.

Nostradamus wrote a lot of stuff so general (and obscure) that with the help of a little imagination (and some liberal interpretations from the original French), people have claimed he has "predicted" nearly every event of significance since the mid-16th century

It seems a lot more specific than the Nostradamus I read when much younger, pretty scary stuff. What I remember reading could be very widely interpreted.
I choose not to buy the book.

Wow! I read nostradamus in it's original text, this book takes lines from it and turns them into entire stories! The word bogus comes to mind. But I'm sure it would be entertaining.

I have the book and the fallacy of what you are reading has many problems. #1 We didn't have the words atomic or Nuclear. We certainly did not have the United States of America, we didn't have a middle east per say. This is some who has taken the words of Nostradamus and made them fit their own agenda.

it's bogus. Borrow it from the library.
I read it 20 years ago when I was a kid. Nostrodumas predicted oil WW3 in 1996. It was quite exciting, the USA against Middle East against China. It was like a Tom Clancey novel.
Needless to say, none of it happened.

This isn't a literal translation, since I don't believe that the word "nuclear" existed at the time. This is an interpretive translation, worked to suit the needs of the translator.

I think you would get better predictions from a Miss Cleo special tarot reading on the psychic hotline.
Nostradamus' predictions were so vague (intentionally) that they have no real meaning or predictive ability, except what people choose to read into it.
