Yes, someday they will. Like everyone else has said, it may not be for a LONG time. I live in metro Detroit and have grown up watching the Lions. So I am very familiar with these guys. I feel that probably in the next 5-8 years they will be competitive. The way the NFL is set up, they SHOULD be competitive.

I do think that Millen needs to go, but on the other hand, he has made some nice trades this year. Of course, he should have been fired at least 2 years ago.

I'm of the opinion that the Lions should draft Calvin Johnson(if he's available) because he's a truly unique talent. Then draft Joe Staley from CMU with the second round pick. After that it's a crap shoot for the most part. Defensively there is a lot of work to do, and I feel that we can draft depth on the defensive side of the ball, and a decent young QB after the first 2 rounds.

That's just my humble opinion for a start on the road to Super Bowl L (50) for those who don't know their roman numerals.

There is always a 1st time for everything. I think if they can get a little more help on QB and Pass Defense, they can compete one day for a weak NFC North.

Bears are going downhill from here.
Packers may still have some left, but thats until Favre Retires and they have to rebuild.
Vikings will start with a QB with not much NFL experience
Lions might find a way to climb up, by a year or two, all they need is a Franchise QB and some D.

Every team has a chance to win the championship. Some just has to wait their turn. They could have an amazing year and win it all. Then again, they could flop. There have been many teams that either won it all or came in second and then the next year, disappear into the abyss for no one to remember.

Odds say yes, but they need to stop drafting WRs in the first round and start deciding what kind of team they want to be, right now they're a pushover team with talent here and there. I'd like to see them build a defense and compete in games. Offense is great, scoring points, gotta love it, but if you aren't in the game, it's pointless. Chicago has the ability to keep games tight so any turnover can turn the game around...Detroit doesn't do that, and they'll have to if they want to win a championship.

Yeah, they will win the NFC championship game but lose the Super Bowl to the Texans next season.

Texans 54 - Loins 52

Not for a while. They might have a chance against high school teams but beyond that no way. They are in the middle of a rebuilding season. The whole team's gotta go. They won't do much for at least 12-15 years.

Not in the next 5-10 years. They are a young team with a very bad QB in Kitna. They need a few recivers, a new QB, and DB/S/LB help.
