I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500, 6 cylinder, and every three thousand miles this giant light comes on telling me to change the oil. I change the oil and it always stays on. Does anyone know how to get rid of it.

Dear God!! Why do you people feel so compelled to "answer" when you do not know the correct answer? Joystoy is the only one even in the neighborhood of being correct. Pull fuses? Go get a diag? Go to the dealer? Wow. Those of you who do not know need to stay away from here. The correct procedure is just like Joy said, Turn the key to run without cranking, then press the gas pedal all they way to the floor 3 times in 6 seconds. Then turn off the key and wait 30 seconds before starting the vehicle, If you don't wait, the light won't reset. This is Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Guesses.

Change the oil. Nah, had to say it lol. Take your truck to the Chevy dealership. Have them run a diagnostic check on it. They should be able to let you know what the problem is.
