hey all, I planted some sunflowers from the seed (I have never done this before) and after a few days of just misting the soil in my planter pot I've already got sprouts! now it's been about 5 days and their like a inch tall... is this normal? am I going to have to transplant them into a bigger pot soon? I know it's a little early to plant them, but I planted some corriander and dill and got impatient and start the sunflowers. my dill plant just started to sprout today (yay!) oh yeah and do you think that I could continue to grow them indoors because it's still kinda cold outside?

Don't put them out until there will be no more frost, which will depend on your zone.

How big is the pot? If it's a big pot, don't replant but just pich away the weakest ones in about another week, until you only have one in the pot.

Give them a jiggle once a day to make strong stems.

Then, after memorial day, plant more sunflowers directly into the ground and add your potted one to it.

Yes, it's normal. Sunflowers srout and grow very quickly.

Coriander and dill both do not like being transplanted. I recommend sowing both of those directly in the soil when it gets warm. And do it every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply.

The sunflowers you can transplant. wait until the get several "true" leaves. Plant them out when danger of frost is past. You could try growing any of those in a sunny window inside - though I suspect the sunflower would get too big too fast.

But I'm always game to try anything.
