Not a chance. Political parties are like magnetic fields -- they seem to swap poles every so many years. I'll neve be ensnared by a "big-boy's fraternity" like a political party. But I'll always be proudly liberal.

America's two political parties are no better than non-Constitutional organized gangs of white-collar criminals who conspire among themselves to deprive the rest of us of our right to meaningful political representation. Taking a loyalty oath to either the Democratic or Republican Parties is a vile traitorous act of treason against the principles of American democracy. If such a thing were to happen, it would most likely start a bloody revolution and I'd be out there with the biggest gun I could find, drilling with my local militia.

I didn't read past answers, but I consider myself socially liberal (You gay and want to marry? Fine!), but fiscally conservative (I'm not going to pay for someone's third crack baby to live off the government). Anyway, there's no way in Hell I'd sign a loyalty oath to a party. I usually vote Republican, but considered voting for Edwards (sans Kerry) the first time. This time he's too far left. I'd support Obama except the fact he has very little experience. Maybe in 2016 if we're alive then.

No...because my loyalty is with My Family, My Country and Friends.
As far as Political Parties, I belong to The Democratic Party but I don't always agree with them and because of that...I have voted Republican on several occasions and did not regret it.

I'm not signing a loyalty oath to any party. And I have always voted Democrat. My loyalty is NOT unconditional. If the Democratic party is disloyal to me it's over.

I'm not sure what you mean by your Republican comment... I am a Republican and the only thing that I swear allegiance to is my country & the American flag! My country ALWAYS comes first - my party is ONLY to give me the right to vote in primaries, and because of local issues where I live.

Not possible, because there are some things I'm liberal about, such as war but others that I'm conservative about such as criminals..anyone making a decision based solely on their "party" is brainless in my opinion.

yeah, I'd rather get a swift kick in the nuts than sign a loyalty oath to any party... no matter how much I agree with them at the time... having intelligence and an open mind means we get to adapt our ideas as we grow... and sometimes that growth will lead us in different directions than parties/people.. no reason to sign an oath ... effectively limiting your growth.

I think that the registering for a party should be abolished. It is not necessary in other countries, and you see far more open mindedness as a result. Forcing people to register for one party or another only gives weight to polling...and it closes off a persons' mind to listening to the opposition.

I vote for the person, not the party. I'm more or less part of the Constitution Party, but I don't limit myself to just that party.
