Alaska is by far the largest state in area, as for population it is ranked 48th, with 600,000+.

Rhode Island is the smallest in area, population, it's ranked 43rd with 1,000,000+

California is ranked 1st in population at 33,000,000+ and 3rd in area.

Wyoming is ranked 50th in population by far the smallest, at 493,000+ and 9th in area.

So, we have 2+ states with a population smaller than many medium sized cities.

None of these states will change their ranking in size of land mass, but their population will change their ranking as migration continues.
