what kind of surgery? I'm sure there are medical sites on the internet that explain in general about what type of surgery you are having. WebMD would be a good place to start. You could also google the type of surgery. There may be people who have blogged about that type of surgery or another medical site that explains what will happen. Good luck and try to stay calm.

If you have unanswered questions and are nervous about the procedure, I wish you would please call your doctor's office. There are several people that will be able to answer your questions-more than likely your doctor's nurse or a Nurse Practitioner will speak with you. It is normal to be nervous, and OK to ask questions. This is your body and you are allowed to know what is going to happen.
Write down your questions and concerns before you call the office so that you don't forget and then later feel you can't ask.
It is most likely that you will leave a message and they will call you back when they are free to talk. I've done this before and they are always very nice and happy to help.
First check out the Web MD site mentioned above so you can ask clarifying questions over the phone.

Google the type of surgey you're having...or the health problem that is making the surgery necessary. You'll find everything you need to know...

Good luck and I hope everything works out OK!

If you have questions then ask your Doctor and make sure you know what's going on if he does not then get a second opinion. Surgery is scary ... but if it is due to lack of concern from the Doctors not answering your questions that is a different story.

i just googled my procedure which i had done and lots of websites popped up. some where a step-by-step explanation which was almost to graphic for me....but its good to be informed and question the surgeon before he puts the knife on you! Do lots of research on your surgeon though...ask him how many operation he has done of that kind, how many successful and how many not and why....
that is almost more important to know then the step-by-step procedure of what you are having done! Good Luck!

I've been told that when you have surgery, you should have somebody go with you when discussing it with your Dr. That way, they can ask questions that you may not think of, and remember stuff you may forget.
