Thanks for all the answers. No buttermilk, self-raising flour or suurdeeg available in this country. Might get some yeast somewhere at a bakery though. The Taiwanese don't bake, unless they're professionals who own a bakery. Few Taiwanese can cook - they buy all their food ready-made or instant. The few and far between special Western outlets sell American products, and I dont know which is worse, Taiwanese or American food. Luckily there's a SA guy here who makes boerewors (ALL HAIL FANIE!!) but no beskuit.
Thanks Iwriteforu for also the other recipes
PS: Good to see your hair's growing again Mercaydees.

Hi here it goes, I’m going to do it in English even though the recipe is in Afrikaans.
The reason I chose this one is because you don’t need anys or suurdeeg.

Kookwater beskuit/ Boiling water rusks

40g(300ml) semels/ Mosley
800ml boiled water/ kook water
350g (375ml) botter/ margarine
300g(375ml)suiker/ sugar
3 eiers, goed geklits / eggs well beaten
1kg meel/ flour
15ml bakpoeier/ baking powder
10ml sout/ salt
5ml kremetart/

Spread the moozly in to an oven try and heat until it changes color. Then take it out and put it to one side to cool off. Take three bread pans and base the pans with butter. You can now heat the oven to180*C (350*F). Mix the boiling water, butter and sugar together into a big bowl until the butter is completely melted. Let it cool down until the water is luke warm, now mix the; well beaten eggs into the mixture. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and krimetart into the mixture of egg. Stir until it forms a slap/ loose dough. Through this mixture into the two oven trays and place in the oven for about an hour. When you take it out cut the bread into 4cm thick slices and in turn cut them up into 3 pieces. Put them out to dry, or eat just as is.

Hope this helps, one Boer to another. If you want more pls e-mail me at mamibeesim@yahoo.com I’ve got an whole recipe book in word on my PC.

Maklike beskuit: 4 koppies melk, 3 eiers, Half lb botter, 6 lb meelblom, 3 koppies suiker, 1 koekie suurdeeg.

Kook die melk, botter en suiker saam en laat dit afkoel. Roer suurdeeg, eiers en 3lb meelblom by. Laat oornag rys, voeg die volgende more die res van die meelblom by en 1 lepel sout. Knie baie goed. Laat rys tot vol en maak bolletjies. Bak by 375 grade.

Sorry about the Afrikaans, I am too lazy to put everything in English. If you prefer anys or Karringmelk, let me know, I'll email you the recipes. :-)
