I think a child who gets pampered will turn out to be a persona that is based on the rest of their life. I admit it i was pampered until probably the age of 13. I got whatever i wanted. Also i got my parents consistent attention. BUT now that's not the case. I go to school, work full time and pay my own bills (car, credit card, phone, rent) and I'm only 19. So i mean i guess since i was so pampered that i began to search for my independence and now am dependent only on myself. So you never know. Also the whole competitive sport thing. Well i mean children are more susceptible to having hurt feelings. They have plenty of time to learn to be competitive that's what life is all about so its OK if you let them be innocent in childhood.

A child that gets pampered either turns into a snob who looks down on people that actually do something with their lives or they become mindless tasteless air heads (Paris Hilton) the over pampering of children doesn't foster good foundations for getting along with others. In a word it's racism

Totally agree. People need to stop worrying about offending their child, or hurting someone's feelings. It's ok to loose, but it shouldnt be encouraged. People are taking it way too easy on their kids nowadays, and letting them get away with any little thing. What happened to the days of butt wuppins with a belt? Now people who spank their kids are frowned upon, and I've even heard of legal action taken against them for so-called abuse. And "time-outs"??? You're punishing bad behavior by sending a kid to their room to play video games and surf the net??? That's like hockey players having strippers in the penalty box!!

It to show a child that winning isn't everything. In life you always don't win but you have to shake it off and keep going. Some times when your having a bad day don't you go shopping or go out for and ice cream or a massage to make your self feel better? Same thing

I think they turn out to be big whiners who can't handle rejection or not being first. At my school we had a principal who wanted every child to get an award. It was ridiculous. Awards are supposed to be special. Not something that everyone gets. If a kid doesn't learn early on to give it his or her all, then I don't see them doing well in any endeavor they attempt.

i have heard that about sports, everyone wants to feel good but for those who work really hard for it get cheated because they dont get the recognition that they worked hard for,but on the other hand when kids are young and if they get singled out alot they can get a big head so as parents we need to keep our kids down to earth

you end up with adults who still live with mommy and daddy - you end up with adults who have no common sense - they can't handle rejection, boil water, call customer service, get a job, and they want everything handed to them on a silver platter. they become complacent and settle for less - then wonder why they aren't happy with their lives - then blame it on everyone else - life tends to "crap" on them - they wear blinders that keep them from seeing that most of life's "crap" is their fault and that they could prevent it or turn it around - but it takes hard work and they are not willing to do that. they want the easy life and they want the easy life to make them rich.
