The scan I've had says the baby's heart is strong and everything seems fine but long term I wanted to know what the risks are of miscarriage. I have been told to rest.

I have never heard of that. You should call the doctor and ask them to explain what the long term affects can be.

do what the doctor says and rest as much as possible if the sack has split you need to be careful and if you start leaking fluid call your doctor right away
i think the sack splitting does increase the risk of miscarriage because the amnoitic fluid can leak out and the baby needs it
but try not to worry your docs know what they are doing and if they have told u not to worry then listen to them

I hate to sound odd, but do you have a photo of the ultrasound showing this? I'm not sure exactly what it is..
have you leaked any fluid?
