Not sure I agree with your other answers.

Certainly the answer to Q1 is C. Portugal but Q2 ?

I think the answer to Q2 is B - land. The Spanish certainly spread Catholicism through South America and they certainly also brought war with them. Their primary reason for invading South America was economic opportunity - they were after the fabled mineral wealth. I do not think they were particularly interested in settling in the areas they invaded, so I think the answer to Q2 is B - land.
