Why are there homeless proud Veterans in the USA?

Many veterans end up homeless due to a great many jobs going to Communist China and of course the war supporters do not care about the Veterans. Shame on the USA.

Working for the government is a bad rap in the private sector especially during republican reign as they believe in ineffective government lots of it during BUSH times. I did volunteer during Vietnam for DOD but then if i wanted a "do nothing job" working for any level of government well i never have been connected to the right people so the hundreds of positions over the years i have applied for yielded nothing not one interview. V.A hospitals use at your own risk for they have lousy low grade to absolute bad treatment system wide, they need to be investigated to see how many die taking their pill pushing treatment! Like all government it is badly managed by "do nothing bums!" You can pick up a newspaper or watch a news cast you get spin & propaganda! Veterans in general come from the lower income bracket in their family tree. The poor in general is who you find homeless, However Veterans are over represented demographically i believe the system turns their back on them! Why should i a war time veteran be out of a job when all these BUMS holding positions "doing nothing right into retirement?" I want productive/effective government so under the current structure thats NOT allowed & i would be outcasted/ostrasized if hired now anyway!

I also have a splash perception and adventure in this area to share. people that checklist those "homeless vet" numbers gain this irresponsibly and with none study. they only assemble notice of mouth archives from the homeless and checklist it as certainty. Ever notice that each and every bum on the go out ramps has an indication claiming "homeless vet"? I labored as a volunteer helping technique those "vets" at a great inner city homeless look after for the american Legion. for each bonafide (i.e. had archives we could discover in the device) veteran there have been a minimum of 15-20 others who never even served yet suggested they have been vets. I doubt this is any distinctive national. it rather is a primary ploy among panhandlers to income sympathy and money. do no longer beleive me? Pull over it sluggish and asked considered one of those "vets" with who and the place they served. Their memories 9 circumstances out of 10 are bull sh*t!

Well you have to remember that most of these veterans faught in Vietnam which was a draft and there was a lot of drug use, specificly stimulants such as phetamines, when they got out they were shows absolute disgust by the liberals and called babykillers, further adding to their stress, and getting jobs wasnt easy because they had been in combat arms for quit a while which isnt the best ona resume unless your trying to be a cop. Mainly drugs though unfortunately.

I agree though they should at the least get free housing.

War supporters care deeply about the veterans, we are the ones visiting VA hospitals and not complaining on Y!Answers like you liberals.

If it were up to Liberals, there would be no such thing as homeless veterans in the first place. The government would not have cut funding for the rehab some of the returning soldiers need.

I appreciate the concern about the Vets, but Walter Reed has been scheduled to be condemned for years.

You are grievously misinformed about vets. Most have homes, and money for college, so I have no idea what you are getting at. I received $25,000 from the GI Bill and Army College Fund I applied to college after leaving in 1991. Vets have 10 years to use their college funds and money. They also get better medical care. In times of unemployment, I have been able to get free medical care from the VA. I will always have access to VA loans for housing, and I have a free burial plot in a veteran's cemetery to boot. So, what are you getting at?

As for jobs going to China causing vets to be homeless. . . You don't know what you're talking about. My suggestion is pick up a newspaper and read for once. And what is this deal about war supporters not caring about the Vets? I am a veteran and I support the war and the troops.

Please do not pretend you care about us, and then blame problems vets receive in medical care on war supporters. That is just stupid.

Veterans of all the wars after WWII have received uniformly lousy treatment at the hands of the government. From denial of benefits for severely wounded vets to lack of support at home for their families, the record of neglect goes on and on.

Some will blame the democrats, some will blame the republicans, but *we* are to blame for allowing our elected leaders of all stripes to spend billions in foreign aid, not to mention hundreds of billions to wage a war, without providing for those who have served so honorably and so well.

.... sorry about the soapbox lecture, but I feel extremely strongly about this. I *don't* support the current police action, but I do support those who serve their country. It's the policy makers I take issue with.

That's nonsense. Veterans can go to any VA Hospital in the United States. The majority of Vets are not homeless, just as the majority of Americans are not homeless. And no one is homeless because our jobs are in China! You had to have graduated from college!
