alot of people say that the nfc west is a weak division. last year the 49ers finished 7-9 ande beat teams like Seattle (2 times) and Denver. They also added Nate Clements, Michael Lewis, Tully Banta-Cain, Ashley Lelie, and Aubrayo Franklin. Are these additions enough to win the nfc west or do they still need to make more transactions?

I say yes. They have been very active in free agency picking up Clements, Banta Cain, and a TE. They did very well last year and Alex Smith is devoloping. I think they will definilty go to the playoffs next year.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the 49ers take the NFC West. They were in the races last year and beat Seattle twice. They just need more success outside of the division and it's theirs for the taking. They have the defense building up (However they need to get a top class line backer still) and they have an improving offense. What more could a rebuilding franchise ask for? I have to count them out still on the super bowl at this point because I haven't seen Alex Smith really control a game yet, and they'll need that, but we'll see what happens when the season starts, who knows, maybe he's good and we don't know it yet....

No problem. They beat a should-have-been playoff team in my Broncos and this year they will be even better with Smith and Gore getting even better and with the addition of Nate Clements of The Ohio State University.

If the 49ers can get Smith protection, they could go far.
Is all 'bout the line !
Look, every single quarterback is good (There's a reason why they are there, and not us.)
BUT
If the line holding the defense down, giving the quarterback precious time to make better decisions is down-eight horrible, how can we expect the passer to make the right choices? He'll be scrambling and running for dear life all game long ! (example: Raiders offensive line - Merriman record breaking sacks ! )

In that division yes. They could go 9-7 or 10-6 with the progress they have made and the direction they are going.

If the Saints did a year after they were the 2nd worst team in the league, even the Raiders/Lions can make the playoffs this year.

They seem to have some good pieces in place to make a serious run next year. Not superbowl caliber, but playoff bound.
