I've been looking for news on that since I'm watching the show right now and all I've been able to get is an "unexplained death" from TWIT magazine.

Apparantly Doug was being treated for a rare type of brain cancer and had been being treated for quite some time. Apparantly Jackie and the other trainers weren't aware of the fast progression of his disease or how sick he really was. The survival rate for his type of cancer is not very high and claims most of it victims by the time they reach their 40's. Usually, other family members will have been stricken and/or died from this type of cancer , as it is thought to be genetic. Doug collapsed sometime in December and was hospitalized. He then died in late January. As for the name of the cancer that Doug had, not much is being said about it, as it is supposed to be covered in episodes toward the end of "Workout", Season 2.
