I have a bit of a thing for Charles II. That man had bravery, style, finesse, fantastic wigs AND was a dirty, horny bugger to boot. Rumour has it that around 1/10 English people are direct descendents!

I also take my hat off to Louis XV - 'L'etat, c'est moi' - what a man!!!

I also like Charles II but also Elizabeth I. She stood up for herself and din't marry but kept power and sorted out lots of problems that Mary had left.

George VI he was not suited for the task but it was thrust on him and he took it on at the worst possible time and became an inspiring and much respected king and it no doubt caused his early demise.By the way do you mean Louis XIV the sun king?

Our present Queen, Elizabeth 2nd. She has managed to bring the monarchy into the 20th C. with peace full silence, no wars no riots no up-heaval. She is the most "people" queen we have ever had and are ever likely to have. History will show her to be truly unique.
