Either before or after. I usually end up going a few days before it.
Calculate your cycle by the calendar. Work out an appointment date around your period.
I usually work out my periods cycles for three months. Since I am on the pill and my periods come on a certain day, that is easy to plan.
My Gyn gets booked fast so sometimes I have to go a month later than my usual date.
Never go during your period. They cannot do your pap test if you go during your period.

it doesn't matter. Most times you have to wait for an appointment anyway. So get your appointment and if you happen to be on your cycle when the time comes, call and ask if you need to change the appointment or if they will still see you.

I had a gyno tell me that it didn't matter if you were having your period. I had to have a D&C for very painful periods and also got my tubes tied at the same time and that was when I was on my period. Maybe for certain exams you might have to wait but in my case he went ahead with but with much abarssment on my part!

I doesn't matter just as long as it is not during. Unless the gynecologist told you she is looking for a specific thing. (i.e. fertility issues) Then I would call the gynecologist as ask them what they suggest for you.
Good Luck

There are no rules for this. Most doctors have seen it all, you can go at any time that you need to and feel comfortable.
