I will forever and the day regret that i through no choice of mine had to emigrate to UK. The day i set foot in UK i was so unhappy and will probably always have that feeling of [i want to go home] in me. I have in the meantime learned to adjust , find UK beautiful in Spring and Summer but the Winters are just awful. Things i miss in SA is the livelyness of the streets the loud music the laughter of the people, the friendlyness [ try and look past the crime for a minute] the fabulous S-African beef [ i hate the Uk beef, tastes awful ] and just generally everything. Uk is my home now but will never ever take the place of the country i was born in. We have had bad experiences but if you allow it to take over your life and still moan about it in a different country then you may as well have stayed at home. Nothing will ever take the place of South-Africa, i love you. I miss you and would move back in a second, crime and all. I would rather die in the country i love than in the UK. :)

Hi Duisend-Poot,
believe me, I really understand you, and I truly believe that only another South African or person that has had to be uprooted will understand.
My family still live in South Africa, and I have regular contact with them and visit S.A. frequently.
I do believe that what South Africans find the hardest is they miss the South Africa that they grew up in.
I can already see the anti-old South African Government loyalists getting ready to type away.
But no that´s is not what I mean.
We miss a time, like in the early nineties, when there was freedom of movement for everyone, cost of living was cheap for all, a healthy social envirinment and the good climate that could be taken advantage of.
But that South Africa does not exist anymore, it is a thing of the past, and it is that which we miss and that so many South Africans would like to return to.
So, when we are home sick and thinking about South Africa it´s important to put things into perspective:
-The South Africa that exists today has very little freedom of movement (without consequences), and peace of mind.
-South Africa is no longer cheap, and in fact prices only continues to soar, and with the new land reforms, which effectively remove a lot of productive farms (and therefore food) from the system, prices will only continue to soar.
-There is no healthy social environment, how can there be in a country where crime really does pay? (With 20 000 murders a year, only 5% of murderers get convicted - if their docket does not go "missing" or their cell doors are "accidentally" left open.
-And it´s difficult to take advantage of the good climate when you risk getting mugged walking up Table Mountain or raped on the beach.
Anyway, hope this helps,
it´s from the heart!

give it a chance... North koreans would probably get homesick if they had to move despite coming from a pretty horrendous country. I think the winter would be the hardest thing to adjust too, apparently they have the same problem with UK beef we have in the US... hormones and antibitics? Finding some grass fed/hormone free beef might solve that problem.
Make the best of it, if you just can't adjust you should look into moving back when you're older.

ok They threw away a sturdy place immediately yet can not rather be accused of an entire on choke. The Aussies bowled nicely for as quickly as different than for Brett Lee who i think of would be success to get on the Ashes excursion. the only wickets he has taken in the final 12 months are some rabbits on the top of the innings. The Aussies are no longer rather very sturdy on the 2nd and probably India are the main suitable ingredient in the international. Very puzzling to triumph over on domicile turf and an astounding batting line up. England are finished crap lead with the help of a great headed smug fool. His administration of the shame final week replace into merely hilarious and a classic occasion of the thank you to no longer skipper a area. RSA ought to %. a balanced team in accordance to in domicile politics and as a effect in keeping with risk are no longer able to field the main suitable ingredient obtainable. do no longer supply up on them too quickly they seem to be a sturdy ingredient yet a splash unbalanced and desire a sturdy spinner. attempt to be an England supporter on the 2nd and that can provide you with coronary heart assaults watching a team of over paid untalented tossers rather like our soccer ingredient our rugby ingredient etc etc i might desire to bypass on yet sense too depressed to realize this.
