I guess you went in a hockey page so you could see what hockey fans thought...i get ...go to the source...would not get many answers in football.with that said as an avid fan i have seen the game slip some in the u s .for some unknown reason ESPN and big sports programers dont give it much coverage...therefore the fan not going to games wont see much about it maybe thats why many people have that opionion.

Hockey's been around for over 100 year, it's not going anywhere. Just because it doesn't get the BIG covergae baseball and basketball get doesn't mean it's dead. Take a look at the arena the next time you see a game on TV. Most of them are sold out (or close to it) for every game.

The fact that you are even asking this question (and getting responses) should tell you that people care for hockey.

If you are one of those people who just doesn't get hockey then why even go into a "Hockey" section and post a question? I'm sure you have a lot better things to do with your time.

no, hockey is alive, but not very well. i'm a hardcore NHL and hockey fan in general. GO STARS! hockey in the US is slowly drifting away into obscurity. it could be argued that golf or tennis have become the number 4 sport in the US. that's just pathetic. the NHL needs to get off of Versus and back onto a recognizable channel like ESPN (who by the way NEVER cover the NHL during SportsCenter).

What do you mean? I've watched over a 100 games this year. Most arenas are posting record attendance numbers. Clutching and grabbing is mostly gone. The playoffs are coming up. Are you talking about field hockey or something? There is nothing dead about it.

right. dead. that's why NHL arenas around the league are posting record attendance numbers this season. Don't buy into the hype on ESPN. Hockey is far from dead.
