If you want a grand total for particular columns, just type this formula: =sum(A1:Z26), where you specify the columns you want to total up.

To add a total to the right or left of a series of columns, with no blank columns in the series, you can click on the cell where you would like your total, then click on the 'Dummy Sum' (sigma) symbol in the tool bar.
If this does not work on your version of Excell enter '=sum(' in the total cell, select all the cells you want totaled, the enter the closing parenthesis ')'.

For example if you have a column of numbers that you wanted added up from C 2 down through C 30 then where ever you wanted that total to appear click in that box, then type =SUM(C2:C30)
Then click the check mark at the top. That should add them all up for you :)

sum(a1:d50) where a1 is the upper most cell in the range and d50 is the lower right. This assumes the columns are contiguous. If not seperate the rages by comma's.
Googleing your excel questions is a great source for instant answers too. I use it all the time when trying to figure something out.

What you want to do is add a formula. Depending on the version of Excel you're using, you should be able to drag across the cells you want t total (sum), and select AutoSum, which should look like a Greek Capital E.
