Everybody is forced to pay for public school and it gets paid regardless of quality of service. If you truly believed in capitalism, and I think you do, then you would know that our public education system is not that. It is not only poor compared to private education here, it is poor compared to education in other modern nations.
The system is poor, in my opinion, b/c of the socialist system it operates under. Tenure for teachers, NEA union, and forced payment by the public give the school no reason to provide better quality for our children. And we often pay for liberals an history revisionists to brainwash our children. As a pro-choice advocate, you have to know I'm right. It should be more of a free market, and let the best school win the right to keep their doors open.

And where is it written in the Constitution that gov't must provide public schooling? Or for that matter, that the gov't must pay for public education?
Look, I'm all for publicly funded education. But why MUST it be through gov't run schools that are failing, that are unresponsive to the parents and students, and beholden to the teacher's unions?
You know what? There are other countries out there that do better educating their kids, where the gov't funds it, but the parents get to choose what school the kids go to. Why is that so wrong here?
Look at the real world. Every service you get in the world that you are satisfied with comes from the free market. Only the ones where gov't has a monopoly or restricts competition do we ***** about. The cable company, phone company, public education, the post office, etc. Those are the ones we complain about.
Do we ***** about having to go to McDonalds, or shop at Wal-Mart? No, because we don't HAVE TO. We can go elsewhere that will satisfy us.
So what is so terrible about allowing parents to take that state funding and CHOOSE the school their kids will go to?

If everyone is given the right to go to a private school with tax funds, they won't be private schools any more.

They are allowed to go to private school. There are no laws against it. If people love their kids and want them to get a GOOD education and learn real life stuff like math, english, religion, writing skills, etc., instead of being indoctrinated into the liberal left mantra of free sex, legal abortion, and homosexuality is fun and OK etc, all they need do is apply.

Everyone should be allowed to send their kids to the same schools the D.C. crowd attends. I'm sure all the politicians send their kids to public schools.

Private school is simply not funded by public funds. It is up to their own discretion as to whom they will admit.
