Nope, since I mostly believe in personal responsibilty, I blame kids and parents for failing to learn and I blame those on SS (not the diabled ones) for not saving for their own retirement.

Funding is up under this president more than any other administration, so that is not an issue. Everyone is yes indeed entitled to an education, but throwing money at the problem is the least educated thing to do. Since Carter put Social Security into the general fund to balance the budget both parties have been using it as their own petty cash account.

Maine is a democratic state and has a school superintendent in every town or school district (Pop 1.5 Million) making $80,000 +
A New York Borough has just one with a population almost the same.
My point is schools are funded at the state and local level. I guess if you just hate Bush it's easy to make a connection than know background. Also Chelsea and Al Gores kids attended Private school. So looks like Bill had one poster on the thread fooled.

Funding for schools aren't getting cut in my state which is Democratic! The Gov keeps raising them until we are getting taxed out, yet our schools aren't seeing the money. It's getting worse. The teachers are buying supplies needed to go along with lessons or projects, good programs are being cut, and our lunch program is becomming unaffordable. So where is all this extra school funding money going to?

I agree with you about borrowing against Social Security, but wasn't it the Dems who blocked all attempts at reform recently?
And somebody better tell Don J that education is primarily funded at the state and local level before he makes more of a fool of himself.

. Bush needed to denationalise Social protection. Wow. that woulda been SWELL those final 2 years. Dems AND 'Pubs have looted the SS and highway believe money for some years. lots of blame to bypass around. Me, i'd at once bypass a $a million/gallon Fed gasoline tax (it is 18 cents now), a $5/%. tax on cigarettes; 25 cent tax on beer cans and 12-oz..bottles, 50 cents ( fitty cent? ) on "40's" and $a million extra on a million/5ths of booze and wine and professional-rated for better sizes; and seizure of the corporation in the event that they are attempting to sell bootleg booze and smokes. basically for cover, yet additionally for gross revenues, mandatory vehicle exhaust-emissions inspections each and every-different 12 months run by using each and every state. Maryland had that and that they have got been very thorough. Privately-owned approved garages and gasoline stations did 'motor vehicle inspections' on each and every occasion a vehicle became offered (no longer new vehicles) and an element of that fee additionally went to Maryland. It stored risky smoky clunkers off the line and became a financial fulfillment. California would make BILLION$ if that they had courses like that, yet rather Californians get decrease back seventy 4 cents for each greenback the IRS gets from Californios. Sin taxes? You betcha. The 'genuine' fee of alcoholism and smoking is nowhere close to lined by using the present tax point. And the submit workplace is underpricing itself on letters and direct mail. hiya, I have been given a million of 'em... .

Since the NEA is 1 of the Democrats most solid blocks, the Dems are certainly responsible for a lot of the problems in our public schools.
Dems aren't responsible for explaining things to the GOP, the GOP should & does know the facts. The Dems SHOULD however tell the truth to the American people. I'm not holding my breath.

want to make a difference? get your school to become a School of the 21st Century and a Community School Health school... these are programs that WORK (unlike No Child Left Behind).. they do not change the curriculum, but rather focus on getting the community involved and keeping kids in school.. by making the school a place they want to be... and making it a better environment for learning and personal health.. best thing of all... after the initial implementation (which uses grant money) the changes made (more nurses/teachers per student.. that sort of thing) actually pay for themselves via state and federal Medicaid dollars...

This is off-topic again, but many teachers will tell you that the PARENTS need to be more involved in their kids' education and suppoortive of the teachers.
Social Security is in horrific shape - I don't know where to begin.
I don't care who gets the blame or the credit, as long as it's fixed. I'm not optimistic.

Hate to tell you this--but the GOP has been in charge of Congress the last 12 years. The current mess in the schools--and the cuts in funding--are their doing.
Not to mention they spent that 12 years doing nothing about social security.
