Well, myopia means "near-sightedness", so political myopia would be "political near-sighteness" which is a metaphor for not being able to see the bigger picture. Or, suppose a politician gets a bill passed that might help things in the short run, but harms things in the long run.

"Political Myopia" means to only look at what's going on right now, without looking at what the future looks like. Past president's had that problem that's why we have a bunch of social programs today. Some might be alright, but if the president that enacted these programs actually looked into the future, some of the programs would have only been around for a short period of time and not forever.

I can only think of one President in my life time that has had "Political Hypermetropia" (or "Political Farsightedness) and that would be Ronald Reagan.

shortsightedness. not looking at the ramifications of ones actions. going into a war without an exit plan.
Before someone thumbs down me for that, remember it was GWB who said no one should ever enter into a war without an exit plan. Albeit he said it years before he invaded Iraq.
