change the boot order from BIOS and make the first boot device the DVD +- Rw (or CD)drive
take a bootable win XP CD
insert it in the DVD +- Rw drive
boot from the CD
format the unit on which you have installed Vista and install WinXP on it
that's all

P.S. don't forget to reinstall the drivers for your laptop

MS went over board on security on Vista making it almost useless to anyone who doesn't have a deep desire to find out the inner workings of the system.

I am not a PC guru but I think the answer is yes. You must make sure you keep the drivers that you need before you wipe out the hard drive to load XP ... of course you will need a copy of XP too.

Before you do that...if it is the over zealous security that is buggin you then you can disable some of that :

For example when you run a full screen game it will often pop up windows that you can't see that need a response (they basically ask "Are you sure you want to run this application ?") and that kills the game without you knowing why. Especially networked games.

You can go into the control panel advanced system settings to turn this off.

Also right click on the program or/and icon itself and find the option to make the program run as an administrator. When you find it there is another option close by to click too (sorry did this a month back and can't remember which button it is).

Not a brilliant answer but hope this helps.

You have to erase your harddrive and then install XP kinda like when you would switch from Millenium to XP or if you know mac then Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X(10)
