My mom said she never saw hers, but other people have. Just wondering how common it is to never see it.

To say if you didn't notice then your not looking is not really accurate. Some woman lost it all at once which is noticeable and some lose it in little chunks, which is not as noticeable. I noticed a wierd little glob and my doc said it was probably only part of the mucous plug. Every woman is different and one way is not any more common than the other. Also, some do not even lose it until they go into actual labor.

I had some pink discharge-which I was told was normal-so I went to work. I didn't wory about it becasue I had a dr's appointment that afternoon. My water broke while I was at my desk.
I think the word"plug" is confusing because it implies somethign hard. Mucus is mucusy, not pluggy, that's why we don't recognize it.

I am currently pregnant with baby three and never have seen my mucus plug come out. I'm really not sure how common that is but never have seen mine come out.

I don't know- I did see mine, kinda freaked me out a little- I didn't know what it was but had somehow attached itself to my hand after wiping- I was in labour at the time- I'd had contractions for about 11 hours when I saw it...yuk!

With my first I had no idea if I had lost it or not and I was in labor. With my second I saw it and didn't go into labor and had to have an emergency c-section. So it varies I have had both experiences! Preferred the first, it is kinda gross looking!!

If she didnt notice she didnt look after wiping. When your 8 months along your suppose to look after wiping your looking for the muslus plug and blood both are important to look for.

I have 3 kids - noticed it with all 3.
