uhh...it could mean that your battery is completely dead...or it could mean that your battery wont hold a charge anymore...which means you need to buy a new battery.....

It is a possibility that the surge overloaded a circuit on the motherboard that directs current to the battery.

It could also have simply overloaded your battery.

This kind of thing is not normal, as the ac adapter is usually the first line of defense against power surges.

Your best bet would be to remove the battery and the AC plug and hit the power button, this will discharge any built up power in the computers capacitors.

Then try to power the computer on with just AC power. If it works, plug the battery back in and see if you can run it on just battery power.

Then plug the AC back in and see if it charges again. Often times simply removing and reinserting the battery can solve problems like this.

If it still does not work, then you can either take it in to a battery store and have the battery tested. Otherwise you could take a multimeter and test the leads that plug into the battery to see if they are supplying voltage.

well if computer was plugged in might of zapped battery.you are supposed to use a surge protecter just for this reason. but a way to check if you have access to a voltage meter easy check one end of mater black is ground hold on outside of plug other end is red insert you are checking for connectivity meter depending on what kind it is might have buzzard if sounds charger good if not bad.if no buzzard dial will jump across screen if dail does not jump charger bad.
