or Border's Bookstore!
People like to chose their own books.
it's hard to pick out a book for someone else, unless you know their favorite author.
I'd love a nice bookmark, a book light that clips onto my book.
a book worm birthday card. flowers.
it's the thought that counts!

I think it is always nice to give someone a book.
If is is going to be a present I would pick out a "coffee" table book you know one about art or one with really cool pictures in it that she can keep out as part of a display. If you don't know what kind of books she really likes Barnes and Noble has great gift cards. A really cool book is
"In Vogue: The Illustrated History of the World's Most Famous Fashion Magazine"
It has amazing fashion pictures in it and it is really cool to have just to thumb thru.

Tough to say what you should get someone for mother's day. It all depends on what their taste is and probably what they need. Are they rich? Then they probably don't need gifts...but maybe some friendly advice, or some friendly "motherly" advice. I had this problem before with some friends of mine in college and found that a nice gift card and dinner did the trick. If not I would send flowers and maybe a card showing you care. With me and my family a little communication goes a long way.

for mothers, something handmade like something you would have given her wen you were younger.well for birthdays you could get her a book or some of the things that you might need to have wen you read. like a bookmark,book lamp,book cover,or something like that. well good luck on finding the presents.
