Is America causing trouble with Russia?

Just as Russia is starting to awaken again from its long sleep America decides to put missile defense shields right next to Russia and within short firing distance of Moscow and St Petersburg. This would be like Russia putting missiles on the border of Canada and North America or putting them back on Cuba. Perhaps it seems America dont like other powers competing with them?

Nobody wants these missiles as a recent regional census stipulates that and if Europe really did need them they would put them up themselves without America telling them too. So will this stupid sabre rattling arrogance of America cause another arms race or will they back down and stop being so confrontational and arrogant. Its like two kids saying ive got bigger weapons than you so any imput to the outcome of this would be gladly received.

Missile defense systems are to interdict missiles, not to attack enemy ground targets, so I don't understand your concern regarding proximity to Russian cities.

It doesn't make sense, because it is NOT comparable to placing offensive WMDs in proximity to our cities.

Your attack on America is also baseless, because those countries in question have no love for the Russians, having been oppressed by the soviet jackals for 50 years. Now Putin is bringing back the soviet-kgb dirty business-as-usual. They're right to be concerned - Russia is not a stable or friendly country under Putin and his kgb-mob.

As for Europe doing this, when you consider that the US outspends all of the EU in defense spending, it is quite out of the question that the EU has developed the missile defense technology that the US has. No disrespect to their technology, but they don't put enough money or resources into it to get similar results.

Um, actually Putin is allowing Russia to slide backwards into a sort of China like state, dictatorship type rule with no freedom of the press politically. Russia had a free press and media up to about 2 years ago, and starting, about 1993 - 94 or so.. Putin has stated publicly Russia "is not ready for anything but authoritarian rule, it is Russian tradition." It is crap, of course, another dictator in new clothes.

U.S. attempts to create a shield is for America's protection against nuclear attack from other nations besides Russia. Putin should look to creating a shared sense of union with the west, not create ambivalence and slide back into the old familiar tune the USSR used so long, mate.
