It simply isn't true that Democrats are predominately socialists.
Nor that socialists are predominately communist.
The Soviet Union was NOT socialist. (Nor was it truly communist -- it was state-run capitalist, which clearly didn't work.)
To the extent that some countries have been socialist (or, somewhat socialist) it has, on the whole, been a Good Thing for its citizens.
So, you're just flat-out wrong on all counts.
(BTW, I'm one of the few Democrats who IS socialist -- most are not; none are communists. Communists tend to register as communists.)

No. See you're just demonizing the left because you're not a liberal. You've heard people call liberals communist or socialist before and no.
Technically almost everyone in America is a little bit socialist. Our society is a lil bit socialist. Why? Because that's how it works best. And yes taxes are definitely a socialistic idea, however, democrats are NOT socialist. There's more than just taxes required in socialism and often democrats can be seen as the middle ground between economic conservatism and extreme liberal socialism.
Oh and socialists aren't always communist. There's a huge difference there. Do some research, k?
Right now you're in the same boat as all of the liberals who claim Bush and all conservatives are Neo-Nazi Fascists. Untrue, of course, but it's the same as what you just said. All demonization.

Your analogy presumes a very radical kind of activity which does not exist, and never has in this country even during the New Deal where without social programs millions of people would have starved to death. You presume all Socialism is Communism but you obviously don't know what you are talking about. Fascism is socialist as people rely on the state for everything just as in a Communist country. We are a capitalist country. Most, if not all, of the Scandinavian countries are Socialist yet they are Constitutional Monarchies or, in other words, democracies. Socialism is an economic philosophy not a form of government as you seem to emply.
If you are opposed to anything remotely Socialist than you are opposed to the governments of 90% of the world including UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Japan and the good old U. S. of A.

Uh.
The answer to your question is "No."
Everyone else already explained why. But you probably won't take the time to research anything, so I'm not sure if it is really worth answering your question. But hey, I need the two points.
Ignorance is far worse than communism, so I'd say people like you are really the people we ought to worry about. Imagine if someone like you were elected president! Oh, wait. Nevermind.
Many people in the former Soviet Union are divided on whether or not communism worked.
Also, ask people in China if communism is working. I think you'd probably get a different answer than the one you assume.
Thanks.

You can not possibly think we live in a world that does not revolve around socialism . 5000 men built the Hoover damn and at a cost of $50,000,000.00 did they get a fair deal . Consider this for a minute . That the damn generates some 4 billion kilowatt hours at a cost to consumers of around 10 cents check your own power bill to see what your charges are . Thats 400million each year so over 10 years only thats 4 billion dollars . Now divide that by the 5000 men and tell me who got screwed . Thats 80,000 a year per man for life . Now if these men worked on several other projects in life and since the damn only took a few years to build you would think that construction workers who built damns would all be millionaires .
They are not and it is the people who do not accept socialism who want all the benefit for themselves that cheat every working man in America out of his fair share .
You are only afraid of socialism if you have something to lose like the ability to profit from others .
Working together for the good of all people is what we should be doing .
The problem is people have not been educated to share and would hoard things . Look at the people at a buffet some time and see how much food is wasted by most people . Thats all right cause it is purchased in bulk and priced accordingly .
So If people where conditioned not to take more then they needed then we could have stores without money that provided people with food and drink and everything we needed .
Trust me we can grow more food then we can eat . Just look at the dumpsters of all the food producing and distributing services . Tons and tons of food go to waste every day . Bread gone from the shelves and tossed out . It could have gone to your freezer for storage to use at a later date . Then we could ask people to store up a few loafs and we could give mexico some bread and with all our food surpluses .
Yes everyone would have to work 30 hours a week . to enjoy the homes cars food clothes movies television cell phones and those comforts we all want .
We have millions of millionaires in this nation who prospered off the work of others and you call this fair . Well I would prefer a well ordered social system in which all people can benefit from our great resources and not just a handful of super rich who buy $2000.00 bottles of wine and through multi- million dollar birthdays for their kids .
I have trouble sleeping knowing these things and that one child died in this country because he did not get an anti biotic that costs 10 bucks . Cause the emergency room checked his blood pressure temperature and sent him home with an asprin because to do a chest x-ray or check for pneumonia costs to much .
I have plenty and do what I can to help others and this insane Idea that we should not have socialism is just nuts .
Working together we can have so much more but it means some people will not be cashing that 40 million dollar paycheck .

Communism under the Russian system did not work... that is true. Communism in it's truest form works.
Capitalism doesn't work either. In supposedly the richest country in the world, Barbra Walters of ABC was able to show that 22 million American Children today do not have a roof over their heads permanently. They do not even enjoy a breakfast before going to school.
Before you start throwing stones Mr Misguided, check to see if you are in a glass house. The arrogance of some Americans brings shame on all of us.

Just to add to the spot-on comments from everyone else...
Communism didn't work, but in a lot of places (especially smaller places) socialism DOES work. The Northern European countries (like Norway, Sweden, Finland) are largely socialistic.. they have generally low crime, generally stable economies, generally good health care, generally high education rates.
Now, socialism can break down in larger countries, as it can have the effect of slowing economic growth in favor of more equality. I'm not saying that the U.S. should nationalize all major industries. I'm just saying that socialism can work in certain sectors and certain places.

Liberals share a belief in individual rights, free enterprise, representative democracy, and the rule of law. In this sense, almost all Americans accept liberal ideals, so much so that it is easy to forget how revolutionary these ideals were when the American Constitution was written. Jefferson said "peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none." All of our founding fathers considered liberalism a foundation of “the grand experiment”, America. Since Reagan, liberalism has been colored to appear weak and elitist, and our military force is used to intervene in others affairs. Think liberal, think BIG!
