Sometime I get so worried that it is a bad decision to try to raise kids with the way the world is now a days! I mean will they even have a world to live in when they get my age? What will schools be like then? entertainment is such an important factor in our lives today, should that be such a priority? How do I teach them to be intellegent when they are surrounded by so much ignorance and carelessness? is it possible in today's society to be extremely successful and still be a gentle human being?? I doubt that sometimes, is it fair to raise a kid in a world where that's not possible?

i have a baby and want a few (3-4 more), there are times though that I get so nervous for my son! I actually think adopting a baby is a little selfish.... so many parents are on waiting lists for years and they cant have any of their own. Adopting a3+ year old though would be awesome if my husband would allow it :)

It will always be possible for a good person to rear a good child. Socrates said (since he did not write things down) that he worried so much about 'today's youth'.......and he meant in his day! During the 50's, students worried about bringing children into the world when we were so scared that Russia would bomb us and we'd all be dead! Every generation has choices to make while rearing children. It is up to the parents of these children as to what will be the children's attitudes and what each child will find acceptable and 'not allowable'.
Those of us who love children, and know how they WANT to be good, work with the children to help them learn to be smart, loving, and truly caring.

No offense hon, but the world has always been like that.
No matter how much seems new, none of it is.
The more things change, the more things stay the same.

And its not all bad either. I agree with you for the most part todays society is less-than-amazing, but you gotta deal with it.

Teach your kids the way you want to. But teach by example as well. Words are nice, but actions are the real teaching tools when it comes to kids. If you live with love and peace, then youll get love and peace back. Some call it karma, I call it common sense. What you put out into the world comes back to you. Which is why no mean people are truly happy, their meaness comes back to 'em.

So listen to your heart and raise your kids the way you feel is right. Good luck, and dont lose hope.

That is negative thinking, Kids choose to lead the path they do, i know some parents who are illierate, unedcuated, selfish but their kids end up doctors, lawyers, and vice versa, parents are edcuated, do their best to bring up their kids but kids turn out to be junkies, brats etc, you see it does not matter where u bring up ur kids, if a kid wants to be good and stay straight then it would not matter how the parents bring them up or where they bring them up, its all up to the individual, i know some kids who have been brought up in Ghetto areas and still end up edcuated and civilsed, parents can only do their best, its not their fault if a kid wants to choose his own path volunterily. its a test of character, distinguish between the weak minded kids and strong minded kids, they have a choice, as i said they choose to lead the life they want to., although being a good parent can influence but sometimes that does not matter at all, sometimes being too kind and soft to ur kid just backfires and they take it for granted, sometimes you have to put ur foot down, but nevertherless as i said its up to the individual, kid or no kid.

God told us to be fruitful and multiply. As long as their is a God and a Bible to get instruction from their is hope for decent, gentle human beings. The answer to your question depends on your view of success. Financially, corporately, as concerning happiness, or just doing what God intended for you to do with your life. Nurses- gentle, successful. Preachers- (depending on their personal relationship with Christ) gentle, successful. Mothers- gentle, successful. And the list could go on. Don't give up hope! I think you are just looking at the wrong successful people.

I don't think so.
If I could do everything over again...I would adopt.
There are so many children who are already HERE who will grow up in the system if they don't get adopted.

I'm glad you are mature enough to think about these serious issues BEFORE you have children...I wasn't.

it's all in your hands, you are the one responsible for your kids, and not the world
